At A White Hot Wedding, we specialise in curating unforgettable experiences, crafting dream weddings that seamlessly fuse romance, religion and celebration.
Majorca, the largest of Spain's Balearic Islands, boasts a Mediterranean climate that bathes its picturesque landscapes in warmth and sunshine year-round. It's no wonder that discerning couples, especially many Irish lovebirds, flock to this paradise to exchange vows. The island's idyllic weather serves as the perfect backdrop for cherished moments, ensuring a truly magical start to married life.
One of the most enchanting aspects drawing Irish couples to Majorca is the abundance of stunning Spanish churches steeped in history and architectural grandeur. From the quaint village chapels to the magnificent cathedrals, each venue exudes a sense of timeless elegance, creating an atmosphere of reverence and awe.
Imagine walking down the aisle of a centuries-old church, adorned with intricate carvings and adorned with delicate stained-glass windows, as your love story unfolds in this majestic setting. The Catholic Cathedral of Palma - La Seu stands as a timeless symbol of faith and architectural mastery, with its soaring Gothic spires and intricate details that inspire awe in all who behold it. This majestic landmark provides a magnificent backdrop for couples seeking a wedding ceremony imbued with grandeur and tradition.
For those yearning for a more intimate setting, our collection of hidden gems includes a quaint stone church perched on a cliff's edge near the bustling resort of Portals. With its picturesque location and outdoor altar, this charming venue offers a romantic ambiance that is simply unrivalled, providing the perfect setting for an unforgettable exchange of vows overlooking the ocean!
Venture further into the heart of the island, and you'll discover the grand open-air church in Son Severa called La Iglesia Nova, where the gentle breeze carries whispers of history and romance. In the heart of the pretty market village of Son Severa, the church sits in a privelged position, even with its high walls, it sits in the warm glow of the Mediterranean sun, this enchanting place captures the essence of Majorca's history and beauty, creating a magical setting for couples to declare their love for one another.
Of course, no Irish wedding would be complete without the opportunity to dance the night away, and Majorca offers no shortage of reception venues where the festivities can continue after your ceremony long into the evening. Whether you prefer an intimate gathering under the stars or a lavish soirée in a luxurious villa, the island provides the perfect backdrop for a celebration that's as vibrant and spirited as the Irish themselves. For fully baptized Roman Catholics (only one half of the couple needs to be Catholic), legal church ceremonies are possible here in Mallorca for foreigners.
At first it may seem rather daunting to try to organize but in reality, yes, it may take a little more effort than a civil blessing, but it is totally possible and actually with Us on your side it can be an easy and straightforward process.
The first step is for us to secure your wedding date and reception venue and then following that pick your favourite nearby church. We will contact the church here in Mallorca to secure your date, shortly following this we will need to arrange the payment of the church admin fee which is typically around 400-600€. You may need to visit the church admin team in person. We will advise you whether you need to attend the meeting or whether we can do it on your behalf. This varies from church to church. Simultaneously you need to contact your home country priest** and ask his permission for you to marry abroad/to grant you freedom to marry.
ALL OF THESE DOCUMENTS MUST BE LEGALLY TRANSLATED INTO SPANISH AND STAMPED WITH HAGUE APOSTILE which can be done at the following url https://www.gov.uk/get-document-legalised for UK clients. All of these documents are then sent by your home priest to the Bishopric Spain who will in turn send it to the Bishopric in the province in Spain where you intend to marry (Mallorca for example).
THIS MUST BE DONE NO EARLIER THAN SIX MONTHS BEFORE THE WEDDING DATE TO ENSURE THE VALIDITY OF THE BAPTISM CERTIFICATES.
** This can be established through any of the parishes the person has lived in for six months or more since he/she was 18 years of age, or your home priest in your town of birth. In this case if you do not live there any more, a family member i.e. a parent could make the request on your behalf.
Once all the paperwork has arrived here in Mallorca and been submitted, we will collect the relevant papers needed for the ceremony on your behalf and deliver them to the Englishç speaking priest who will perform your marriage.
After your ceremony, we will collect the marriage license and certificate for you and ensure it's brought to you in Mallorca if you are still here or sent to you at your home address.
We will also need to book the English-speaking priest who will conduct the mass for you. His cost for this is normally around 400€. You can bring a priest from the UK but we do not advise it, it's proven more complicated in the past.
